Rolf Dittmann studied mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). After obtaining his Master’s degree, he worked in research and teaching at the Institute of Thermal Turbomachinery, University of Karlsruhe (TH), and earned his doctoral degree in the field of optical particle characterization and the optical properties of combustion aerosols.

Afterwards, he worked as a power plant commissioning engineer and gained international practical experience in plant engineering. Since 1998, he works in the field of intellectual property. He passed his education in this field with ABB and Alstom.

Prior to founding his patent law firm in 2014, Rolf Dittmann was responsible for the intellectual property affairs of all non-US development sites as well as the European subsidiaries of Zimmer, a leading company in orthopedic industry, for nine years and was a member of the industrial property committee at Swissmem, an association of Swiss industry companies.

Due to his extensive industrial experience, Rolf Dittmann owns an entrepreneurial view on industrial property and gained profound experience related to development, maintenance, defense and enforcement of patent portfolios worldwide. His particular technical experience comprises mechanical engineering, mechanics, thermodynamics, measurement and control technology, fluid mechanics and medical device technology. He is a professional representative before the European Patent Office since 2004, and a Swiss Patent Attorney.
